Signs of Water Damage due to Storms

Due to heavy rainfall caused by the recent Hurricane Ida, many homes and businesses are experiencing flooding! Here are the signs of water damage to look out for:
- Dark or Wet Spots – If you see any discoloration on the ceiling, interior, or exterior walls of your home, you should get it checked out for water damage.
- Cracking, Bubbling, or Flaking – Water damage may be present if the drywall or paint on your ceiling or walls begins to crack, bubble, or flake.
- Pooling Water or Puddles – Leaks or drips can cause pools of water to form. If a puddle just continues to come back in the same spot even after drying it out, you likely have a leak.
- Sounds of Running Water – Sometimes you can’t see any signs of water damage, but you can hear it. If you hear a dripping sound, rushing or running water, or even a creaking floor, you might want to look further. But they can be normal sounds as well, so really pay attention to changes in sound.
- Increase in Utility Bills – Have you noticed a sudden spike in your water bill? It could be a sign of hidden leak.
- Damp, Musty, or Moldy Smell – These smells can be an indicator water damage. You should call a professional right away.
