Although usually snowstorms mean hunkering down and getting snowed in, sledding and enjoying time with family – sometimes in emergencies, it is necessary to travel. If you have to move during a storm, or are afraid you might get caught in one during your travels, here are items to include in your own emergency kit:
- Portable cell phone charger.
- Extra hats, coats, mittens, and blankets.
- A windshield scraper.
- A snow shovel.
- A battery powered radio with extra batteries.
- Flashlights, and extra batteries.
- Water bottles and packaged snacks.
- First aid kit and all necessary medications
- A pocket knife.
- Tow chains, rope, and/or tire chains.
- Cat litter or sand to help with traction, or road salt to melt ice.
- Charged battery and jumper cables.
- Emergency flares.
- Paper road maps.
