It is important to keep you and your loved ones safe during a Tornado Watch. Different ways you can do this are:

Before a Tornado:

Watch out for dark, rotating clouds. If you see one, take shelter immediately.

Listen for a tornado siren, if you hear one seek shelter immediately.

Turn on your TV/Radio to stay updated with the current weather and emergency instructions.

Avoid unnecessary car trips as you do not want to be caught outside if a tornado comes.

Bring outdoor furniture and other items that can blow away inside as they may become a safety hazard.

During a Tornado:

Take shelter immediately as flying debris and high winds can cause injuries.

Keep your windows closed and stay away from them. If a window breaks the glass can injure you.

If you are in a building, go to the basement or lowest floor. This is the safest location for you and your loved ones.

If you are in a mobile home, go to the nearest building or storm shelter as these will protect you more than you home.

If your car is hit by debris, stop, cover your head, and stay below the windows. You will be safer inside your car than outside of it.

If you are outside, lie down in a flat area and make sure to cover your head with your hands. You will be safer lying down than standing up.

After a Tornado:

Avoid entering damaged buildings as broken glass and exposed nails can injure you.

Keep away from downed power lines and objects touching them as they can electrocute you.

Wear sturdy shoes, long sleeves, and gloves when walking through debris. Stepping on nails and glass can severely injure you.

If you experience any Storm Damage from this tornado, SERVPRO of Southern Delaware County & West Chester is here to repair your home or business to return it back to normal.
