How to Easily Avoid Commercial Fire Hazards

10/31/2019 (Permalink)

We all know how important it is to have working fire extinguishers, smoke alarms, and fire sprinklers.  What you may not be aware of is that it is equally important for employees to do their part to keep fire hazards to a minimum.  Here are a few examples.

Excessive Clutter

Files, folders, and papers need to be disposed of once they are no longer needed.  All of these type of items can easily fuel an office fire.

Electrical Problems

Overloaded extension cords or old surge protectors can become fire hazards.  Electronic devices should be powered down when not in use.  All wiring should be in good working order since old wiring is just as dangerous to a commercial building as it would be in a private home.

Negligence

Mistakes can happen to anyone.  These could include leaving a stove or burner on in the kitchen/break room, burning something in the microwave, or smoking in non-designated areas.

An ounce of prevention could go a long way and be very beneficial  when it comes to keeping your commercial property safe from fire hazards.
